Finish the web and mobile application at a fraction of the original price. Little did we know that the term "finish" in reality meant writing completely new code. What procedure did we apply and what was the outcome?
The poor choice of the client's original supplier brought him to the point where he had spent almost all the funding obtained from the angel investor. We were faced with an insoluble problem as they urgently needed to finish the incomplete web and mobile application. There was one catch though - finishing the incomplete code should only cost a fraction of the original price.
A quick prototype of the part of the functional application that Tentacles IoT could present to their clients. So the initial solution had to be quick, but it belonged to the category of development work that no one likes. With great reluctance you spend time working on the project and the code that you have to correct at every single place. However, it was only for the needs of a quick version of the presentation, after which there was room for more conceptual and meaningful work.
The big challenge was mainly the mobile application. At this point, we decided to be pioneers and used the brand new Flutter framework, which allowed us to keep the cost of application development at a fraction of what it costs to develop a native application for iOS and Android.
The application can use Bluetooth to connect to the sensor, download data from it, change sensor settings, or upload new firmware. Then it sends this data to a web application or makes it available to stand-alone third-party applications using the BlockBax platform.
Using the web application, clients have an overview of their installed sensors, their settings as well as statistics of measured values which are displayed in clear charts and tables that can be understood by every person involved.
Our client's business has been growing. Tentacles IoT has not only got operating profit, but they are also starting to get their initial investment back. Owing to the initial success of sensors for measuring soil parameters, they also managed to sign new contracts and obtain cooperation in the field of heavy industry, where the development of new types of sensors is in progress.
