I'm David Melich. I've been building software for money since 2003, I teach web applications to master's students at UPJŠ in Košice, and I run GrownApps — the team companies call when the codebase that got them here starts fighting the roadmap ahead.
These 15 questions are the same ones we ask at the start of every audit. We made them free because most teams don't need an audit yet — they need to know which dimension is quietly getting worse.
Before you book
Best case, honestly. Most of our audit clients have solid teams and a product that works - what's slipping is velocity. The audit tells a healthy company where the next two quarters of friction are hiding, while there's still time to choose what to do about it.
Hire them - after the audit. A senior hire costs 1.5-2x salary all-in and needs 4-6 months to learn your codebase before their opinion is worth much. The audit gives you the map in 10 days, so the people you hire spend their first months fixing, not diagnosing.
Your team keeps authority. We work through their review process, we credit what's good (there's always good), and the report criticizes code, never people. Most engineering teams end up using the report to win arguments they've been losing for years.
